The Federal Highway Administration released a new design guide for protected bike lanes, now making these types of projects much easier for local jurisdictions to plan and install on your city streets. Want to learn more about the new standards? Here's a webinar on June 2 (note Eastern time) and some links!

We are so excited over here. We were on the planning, safety research and design team for this through the past two years and it is so nice that is it is out there now (we wrapped it up months ago, but the fed take forever to approve formal documents). Thought it might be a good thing to promote to your city chapters and design-oriented members.

TO THE ATTENTION OF: DIVISION ADMINISTRATORS AND FEDERAL LANDS DIVISION DIRECTORS
The purpose of this email is to announce the public release of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Separated Bike Lane Planning and Design Guide. The Guide outlines planning considerations and design options for separated bike lanes. Case studies highlight notable practices and lessons learned. The Guide supports FHWA’s National Performance Objective to protect and enhance the natural and human environment, foster livable communities, and increase the implementation of sustainable highway practices. The Guide is a resource for practitioners and stakeholders as they plan and design separated bike lanes and implement connected bike networks. The Guide is posted on the FHWA Bicycle and Pedestrian website <http://cp.mcafee.com/d/5fHCN8p43qb3atNOrz1EVdTdEThjKed7bb3NJ6WatNNEVpd7b9J6WatNNEVpod79J6WatTAQn4jqG7DWp-967wGCGQIjcr6oFOVKCGQIjcr6oFOVJeO90w--_R-hvKYy-VRXBQQQkuphvupupVqWtAklrKfYG7DR8OJMddECQPtPtPo09QCoTAaPUzkPDMcOzm2LMDx2lyRz_5lLg-AUOS66WdMgFedlgkjF6TdMJTEdCQTTSrCNsMwAq81s1kzh06wMn30b6N04xEo1yhEwd41Ew6fmSePZ0Qg3cyLCy0aX3Ph05zZx2k29EwS21Ew3LF8z0Qg19Ki7CT3hOrYVvV>. We will host a public webinar on June 2, 2015 from 1-2pm (Eastern).
