I would certainly be happy to discuss this more. I'm doing well at convincing individual youth to get excited about the carfree cities option, but still don't know how to take it to a bigger level. One thing that seems to help is personalized letters sent to support a cause. But we'd have to know to whom to send them. Anyway, I hope to see more discussion and a gradual process to get this listserv back up to the level of a functional community!

we've heard that the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has been hoping to reshape Paris streets for a while now.

That is surely great news. Also we know of other cities with big ambitions, including both Madrid (increased pedestrianization) and Barcelona (super-blocks).
One thing I'm sure of, these plans will receive strong levels of resistance, and probably people will try to delay or water them down.
Not long ago, we discussed on this list trying to revive discussion or actual concrete items. I think it would be interesting if those people left in the carfree community, who are still interested in doing something, could somehow band together and offer support for current developments like this. Mentioned here is only the tip of the iceberg.
Hopefully a few people will be interested in discussing this more.
