I am actually doing comparatively well. Our building sustained no damage, and there is plenty of food and water. The solar system is providing limited amounts of power (enough to allow neighbors to charge phones), and the internet came back on this morning (to my considerable surprise).
CNN is reporting "near total destruction", which is a gross exaggeration. The situation is serious, many have been killed, and the first food market only appeared this morning. We had one very bad aftershock a day later that brought down some damaged buildings. Things have been quieter since then. The weather is fairly mild, with some rain and chilly nights.
We need help, and lots of it, but 99.98% of Nepalis have survived this quake.

Post by Richard Risemberg ***@earthlink.net [CARFREE_CITIES]I have talked to a mutual friend of mine and Joelâs, and she reported that she spoke with him by phone yesterday. He has been living in a newer building in Bhaktapur and is fine, but has no electricity or internet. He does have food and water.
